Christ Methodist Guardians

All youth sports programs, which are organized through Christ Church Athletics, are Christ-centered with a strong emphasis on honoring and glorifying God. Our coaches teach Christian values through sports, motivation, discipline, purpose, self-control, honesty and teamwork. We are proud of the way our students conduct themselves both on and off the field. Christ Methodist Athletics registration is available for all Memphis-area youth and is not restricted to CMDS students.

Why The Guardians?

Guardians are loyal, steadfast and undaunted. They are keepers of the faith, of the flame, of the light, of the truth and of the cause. Guardians are the last line of defense. They don’t start fights; they finish them. Guardians have something worth protecting. It’s not about the fight, but what the fight is for.

Winter Sports

BASKETBALL

The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-grade teams will play in ESCRA with other churches and schools.   We plan on having the numbers to have teams divided by grades (i.e., first-grade teams, second-grade teams, and third-grade teams. They will play an 8-game schedule.  Practices will start in early November.

The 4th-grade players have two options based on evaluations. An "advanced" team plays in an older age group on a 10-foot goal, focusing on proper shooting techniques. Other 4th graders play in their age group on an 8.5-foot goal, with teams divided by grade level if possible; otherwise, they join a combined 3rd and 4th-grade division.

Our 5th and 6th-grade divisions will be divided into 6th-grade "Varsity" and 5th-grade "Varsity" teams, along with 5th/6th-grade combo teams. The "Varsity" teams play in a more competitive school division without a play requirement. We aim to provide players with more playing time and challenges suited to their skill levels, fostering improvement, confidence, character growth, and fun. Team placements result from evaluations by our coaches, and to join a "Varsity" team, players must attend our school or actively participate in our church ministry. For questions regarding ministry participation, please reach out Christ Church Athletics Director, Brian Maness.

JK and SK Mini Jammers

The season begins in January and runs through March 1st. There are two “Drills and Skills” sessions, followed by 4 games which take place on Friday nights. (JK-4:45 and SK-5:45)

CHEER
